Hey people this is Jae from @sciencebyjae. I made a detailed post on Instagram highlighting my content shift away from nutrition to general science communication. While nutrition is near and dear to my heart I want to talk about something broader.
We have current issues with misinformation, disinformation, and conspiracy theories propagating themselves all over the place online. In order to immune ourselves from this threat we need to sharpen our critical thinking skills and become real skeptics.
Skeptical in the sense of valuing science, reason, and logic when it comes to decision making. Most of the time we don’t question why we make certain decisions, hold certain beliefs, or why we behave a certain why. Maybe this newsletter can provide insight in conjunction with the new podcast I am developing.
I’m going to reference nutritional research quite a bit as I will soon become imbedded in graduate school for human nutrition, but do not forget my background is in philosophy and psychology as well. We will go over errors in thinking, tribal psychology, denialism, the “intellectual” dark web, abstract philosophical concepts like “freedom”, and so much more.
