Thank you for this Jae, I agree with all of that. I had a burnout 3 years ago and would say I’m still not 💯 but can’t afford to give up work

You got this my friend! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Burnout is very common in our society and it’s time to recognize the problems our capitalist society produces.

A very intelligent discourse on one of the major issues we are facing as a society today. And you are absolutely right, mental health issues in the majority of cases do not happen in isolation. And the same is true to most health concerns.

The speed on which we need to produce and the demand of capitalism weighs heavily on us and do not allow us to disconnect, to come off the hamster wheel. It’s exhausting.

Many studies have been conducted in the area of work life balance and happiness at work etc, but they’re centred in efficiency and productivity not on the human mind.

I know so many people who have worked so hard and continue to do so, yet they live in anguish because of the lack of security this system provides, if any at all.

Every social or economic crisis, every war, every change in behaviour, development of new technologies etc are more than enough reason to send us into a downward spiral as security is eroded.

Enlightening read! Capitalism has just been a very persistent illusion. We can thank our human bodies and souls which sound the alarm bells through anxiety, depression and burnout. Being structurally locked-in (through needing a bank account, a phone, a job) and essentially being forced into participating ends up robbing us of our self-sufficiency and joy.

Perhaps if we live as nomads in nature, we would not be so stressed out.

Currently signed off sick: narcissistic job, narcissistic wife, dying narcissistic parents. I take Atarax for anxiety (amazing!) 3 types of sleeping pills - I now sleep better than 0.

I’m navigating a way out because I see clearly again since childhood. It’s a horror show but I’m now slowly progressing. And I’m happy 😊
