Thank you for sharing this, this resonates with me. I’m not in the US, I’m in the UK but the same issues apply. I’m a qualified professional, but I earn less than the UK median wage, my professional body shows what I earn to be in the top end for my profession, but I find this quite preposterous.
wages have stagnated for some time and I find I am struggling financially. I am a union member but I try and get my colleagues to join a union and they are reticent. I can’t take action on my own and find it all very frustrating.
Thank you for sharing your story Greg and I’m sorry about your recent struggles. For some reason people are scared to join a union when it literally gives them more bargaining power. Have you considered being more politically active if you aren’t already?
The Labour Party have failed us dreadfully they have become too centrist and are more interested in appeasing the anti immigration movement and higher earners. In Scotland we have the Scottish National Party who are more progressive but have their hands tied by being limited by the UK government and funding. I’m a fan of the Green Party they have much more progressive policies and are running in coalition in Scotland with the SNP, but we need independence to fully embrace our democratic will. The Scottish parliament recently had a positive vote to hold another referendum for independence but have been denied by the UK government. They know that we are a net contributor to the UK economy and would suffer without us.
I’m honestly ignorant about UK politics as of this moment but I’ve heard of Your Party and more progressive/socialist elements outside of the Labour Party.

Freedom and self determination for my Scottish friends! The UK is an imperialist warmonger like the United States after it.
I am already more active, and I regularly write to my government representatives
